The Sendai distillery, renamed Miyagikyo in 2001, was founded by Masataka Taketsuru in 1969 in a small town in Miyagi prefecture. Equipped with eight steam-heated stills, whose large size ensures a slow and precise distillation, it released its first single malt in 1989. After a ten-year absence, Miyagikyo 10 Years Old returns in a new version, reinterpreted by the Nikka Whisky team. Elegant and radiant, this expression reveals a rich palette of flavours and aromas marked by juicy, citrus and tropical fruits.
TASTING NOTES:
- Nose: fruity aroma reminiscent of apples and citrus, complemented by a subtle sweet note of vanilla developed during maturation.
- Palate: rich and well-balanced flavour, where the sweetness of the malt harmonises with the taste of ripe fruit.
- Finish: pleasant aftertaste, with a gently sweet and slightly bitter finish.
