A malt blend named in honour of Nikka's founder, Masataka Taketsuru. This whisky is a blend of casks from Yoichi and Miyagikyo, Nikka's two distilleries, showing an exquisite balance between great smoothness and deep complexity.
MASH: 100% malted barley. MAIN MATURATION: ex-sherry casks and used American oak casks (recharred). BLEND: malt distilled at the Miyagikyo distillery and malt distilled at the Yoichi distillery.
TASTING NOTES:
- Nose: complex and expressive. Fruity (orange, grapefruit, juicy pear), herbaceous and slightly smoky.
- Palate: round and delicate. Malty, spicy (cardamom), fruity (candied fruit).
- Finish: long. Fruity and slightly bitter (citrus, dark chocolate) and slightly smoky.
