ELABORATION AND AGEING
The Viura variety, the leading white varietal in Rioja, comes from a vineyard located in the Sotés area of Rioja Alta, over 650 meters above sea level, with vines over 85 years old planted in old, rough soils. The small, concentrated, and aromatic clusters have exquisite acidity and moderate alcohol content that provides freshness. The Tempranillo Blanco variety, native to Rioja and a mutation of the red variety, comes from a small young vineyard in Rioja Alta, contributing floral aromas and liveliness to the blend; it is a variety with great mouthfeel plasticity that complements and enhances the Viura very well.
The two varieties are harvested and processed separately. They undergo 16 months of ageing in new extra-fine grain French oak barrels and a minimum of 14 months in bottle.
