ELABORATION
A small vineyard planted in the area between Fuenmayor and Cenicero, Rioja Alta. The grapes were collected manually, in containers called comportones. Alcoholic fermentation in underground cement tanks, with maceration with the skins for 30 days. Malolactic fermentation in wooden vats in the underground cellars of the winery. Aged for 48 months in semi-new French oak barrels in the cellars of our winery. Once the fullness of its aging had been reached, it was bottled, to rest and evolve for a minimum of 15 years before its commercialization in the second half of the 90s of the 20th century.
TASTING NOTES
Medium-high layer, with an intense cherry red color, very bright edge. The most intense nose of the 80s, very expressive. Candied fruit, cinnamon, balsamic touches, toasted sugar. In the mouth, unctuous and with great volume, nuts, raisins and high-quality toasted wood appear. Very broad aftertaste.
HISTORY AND ORIGIN
Wines that are authentic icons and living history of our winery. Made exclusively in exceptional vintages, those that offer us robust, powerful and structured wines, with enormous aging potential. In our cellars rests this collection of historical vintages that dates back to 1926.
VINTAGE: 1982. Excellent.
Mild and very rainy winter. Spring without frost with mild temperatures, during the summer high temperatures were recorded in its last stage. Moderate rains in the Rioja Alta area and close to harvest, which had no impact on the possible presence of fungi. Sugar levels somewhat higher than later vintages in the grapes and ideal parameters in health and phenolic ripening.
