El Puerto de Santa María, 26 March 2020. The Osborne Group, whose brands include Nordés gin, Bodegas Montecillo Rioja wine, Carlos I Brandy de Jerez and Cinco Jotas 100% Iberian acorn-fed ham, amongst many others, is doing everything it can in the fight against coronavirus.

Last Tuesday (17 March), a few days after Spain declared a state of emergency, and in coordination with the Spanish Spirits Association (FEBE), Osborne put its distilleries and staff at the disposal of the country’s Ministry of Health in order to manufacture alcohol for medical use, given the fact that it is currently in short supply and so effective at halting the spread of the virus.

The Group has also launched the initiative #ThisTooWeCanOvercome, the aim of which is to send a reassuring message to Spain and the world, based on its own history. Over the almost 250 years since it was founded, the Osborne Group has overcome all the obstacles put in its way, just as society has historically done.

In an unprecedented move, the company has put the message on one of its iconic Toros. The Toro which presides over its head office and site where the company was founded, in El Puerto de Santa María, has been chosen to bear the message because of its symbolic value for the Group. This is the first written message to appear on this icon of Spanish culture for more than 20 years.
