Osborne acquires the Spanish whisky Doble V
El Puerto de Santa María, 5 August 2020.- Osborne, a company with almost 250 years of history behind it and brands such as Cinco Jotas, Nordés, Montecillo and Carlos I, acquired the brand from Pernod Ricard on 31 July.
This is a brand with history and a truly Spanish essence, whose popularity soared during the 90s, becoming the fourth most sold whisky in Spain. Over the years, Doble V has managed to maintain its presence throughout the country, with a large percentage of its sales coming from Andalusia, where it began. Last year, sales grew by more than 15% compared to the previous year and, now part of Osborne, it is expected to continue to grow over the coming years.
Fernando Terry, CEO of Osborne, has spoken about how the team is ‘already working on a plan to give Doble V a more contemporary image, position it as a premium brand, increase its distribution, boost its appeal for consumers and turn it into a leading Spanish whisky. This milestone will undoubtedly allow us to harness synergies and strengthen our presence in the world’s most important spirits category. The acquisition is part of our Strategic Plan, one of the objectives of which is to breathe new life into our product portfolio’.
Osborne will begin retailing the brand from 1 September 2020 through its various channels, namely the hospitality and food retail industry, and online.
