History

The history of Osborne dates back to the end of the 18th century, when a young merchant called Thomas Osborne Mann arrived in Cádiz to commercialize the wines of the area. He soon set up business in Puerto de Santa María, the town where he founded his own winery which, more than 200 years later, would become the major business group that now enjoys international fame and recognition.

The origin of our Sherry wine vintages. This makes Osborne one of the oldest family businesses in the world.

The origin of the world’s most highly renowned brand of anisette: Anís del Mono, which dates back to the 19th century and was bought by Osborne in 1975.

1874

Bodegas Montecillo is the third oldest winery in La Rioja. A winery with unique historic vintages, which was bought by Osborne in 1973.

1879

We also have to go back to the 19th century to establish the origin of Sanchez Romero Carvajal Jabugo, a company renowned for the unique quality of its products and the ultra-premium positioning of its Cinco Jotas brand. The company was bought by Osborne in 1983.

1956

1956 was the year which saw the creation of the Osborne Bull as an innovative advertising medium which, over the years, would become a universal design and a landmark in the history of advertising.

Launch of Bodegas Osborne in Malpica de Tajo, one of the largest winemaking projects in Europe.

Carlos I

2008

Osborne buys Carlos I, the Jerez Solera Gran Reserva Brandy with the greatest prestige and international presence.

2009

Start of the commercial operation of the Osborne Bull brand, developing official products under license.

Carlos I

2015

Osborne buys the Nordés brand premium gin, a unique product made using traditional methods in Galicia, which is being marketed and sold internationally with great success.

Osborne Foundation

2016

Osborne Foundation was founded to encourage training and entrepreneurship among young people and to preserve and disseminate Osborne’s historic heritage.
